This inaugural collaboration between Vincent Dion and Lydia Viscardi combines previously completed sculptures with found objects reimagined to create a habitat that reflects human behavior, the environment and the spirit world. Dion’s tarred and feathered Eagle with Fish Head is loaded with associations to the abuse of power. The eagle, a symbol of national pride yet in reality a scavenger, is depicted with the head of a fish referencing water, a formerly plentiful resource that is now jeopardized. Viscardi’s animated bird skeletons are an affirmation of life and an acceptance of mortality. The colorful birds, symbols of transformation, are informed by the Mexican celebration, Day of the Dead (Dias de los Muertos).
