fishes

FISHES is a group of sculptures rendered in the approximate scale of the fish that they represent. These artworks explore the dynamic between humanity, the environment, and the spirit world. These artworks can be seen as trophies or symbols of power, but unlike trophies, they do not stand for conquest, rather they express and adaptability between the human and spirit worlds. The sculptures are made of paper mache and covered with a variety of materials including feathers, fish skins and seaweed. Often, the surface compositions are created by imbricating materials on the sculpted fish forms to give an appearance that has depth similar to the visual depth of actual fish scales.
